Free Psychological Skills Training for Primary Care Clinicians in Lincolnshire

The East Midlands Cancer Alliance Centre for Psychosocial Health (EMCA CPH) will be providing free two-day training for primary care clinicians who have contact with cancer patients in their roles. The training is open to all primary care professionals and focusing on enhancing psychological screening and intervention skills for cancer patients. Many of the techniques can also be applied to work with other patient groups.

Key learning objectives:

  • To confidently screen for psychological distress and assess risk
  • To understand appropriate level of intervention required and pathways to access further support
  • To enhance skills in supporting cancer patients experiencing mild levels of distress

Following training, clinicians will have access to additional support and supervision from specialist mental health professionals and be able to refer cancer patients experiencing higher levels of distress to the specialist EMCA CPH service.

EMCA CPH provide this training for clinicians in the following Lincolnshire Primary Care Networks; APEX PCN, East Lindsey PCN, IMP PCN, Lincoln Healthcare Partnership PCN, Meridian Medical PCN, South Lincoln PCN, Trent Care PCN. Similar training is provided for other PCNs in Lincolnshire by the Macmillan Cancer Psychology service.
