Ellie Forbes
Clinical Educator
Over the last 29 years as a Registered Children’s Nurse, I have gained wide and varied clinical, educational, managerial and research skills, knowledge and experiences in the UK, Australia, Haiti, Kenya, all underpinned by an MSc in Advanced Practice in Nursing and Applied Education (2011), Post-Graduate Diploma in Professional Healthcare Education (2007), and NMC Registered Lecturer/Practitioner (2007).
For the last 10 years, I have led the development and delivery of the MSc (pre-registration Adult, Child and Mental Health) and, more recently, the BSc Children’s Nursing Programme at University, embedding contemporary healthcare and workforce issues, and ensuring strong alignment with sector priorities.
In 2008 – 2010, I was part of a team of Educators to implement the Paediatric Emergency Care Framework in Scotland. This deepened my passion for delivering and supporting education around children and young people to practitioners in a primary care setting. I also delivered Children and Young People First Aid training to new parents in 2012 – 2016.
Throughout teaching I have used Simulation and Human Factors/Ergonomics methodologies to underpin the learning. I am also the Honorary Secretary for the Association of British Paediatric Nurses.
I am excited to be joining the team!
Outside of work, I enjoy getting outside and exploring, photography and music.
