Rob Tidy

Functional Skills Teacher

Level 5 Diploma for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)

Hello, I am Rob, the Functional Skills Teacher at Lincolnshire Training Hub.

As an experienced educator, I have been teaching Functional Skills for nearly 20 years.

After qualifying – and then teaching at Lincoln College, I joined Lincolnshire County Council, where I enjoyed a rewarding role supporting young people to improve their qualifications, develop their skills and progress into employment.

From here, I started teaching adult learners, helping those who were looking to strengthen their skills and achieve greater career opportunities. This has taken me into a diverse range of learning environments, before progressing into the NHS.

I was fortunate enough to be recognised by my peers, by winning the 2025 ‘Improvement, Education and Research Award’ at the LCHS trust’s ‘Staff Awards Ceremony’.

Having struggled with Maths and English when I was younger, learning as an adult, has given me a valuable insight into supporting others to develop their own English and Maths skills. Working with them as they build their confidence and ultimately progress towards a career within the NHS, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. It is this passion for helping people achieve their aspirations that led me to join the Lincolnshire Training Hub in April this year.

In my current role, I have been able to broaden my experience and diversify into different areas, with the aim of supporting even more individuals to develop their skills, realise their potential and take meaningful steps towards achieving their dream NHS career.
